The historical connections between the Moselle Valley in Luxembourg and Transylvania in Romania, as well as the friendship between the city of Luxembourg and the city of Sibiu Hermannstadt begin with a migration story.
In the Middle Ages, the people of the Moselle Valley embarked on a journey to new horizons, to the east, taking with them far more than they would need for a long journey. Among their prized possessions were textiles, tools, and even vines, evidence of their deep attachment to the country from which they had come.
RoKultur also participated this year in the European Heritage Days and in the very warm atmosphere of the A Possen Museum on the Moselle Valley we organized Saxon embroidery workshops. We chose to embroider this year models related to vines and grapes, because we discovered these motifs present both on Saxon home textiles and on Saxon clothing.
